PAYWARE.TXT


Until now there have been basically four types of software:

1.  Commercial Software such as WordPerfect, Lotus 1-2-3, etc.  

2.  Freeware (Public Domain Software)  Offered without charge to
the user.  

3.  Shareware.  This is the software such as PC-Write, PK-Zip, etc.
that a user tries before buying. 

4.  Scamware.  This is a term we have coined for the software that
a company offers "absolutely free" through an 800 number.  The
catch is that, in fine print, they ask for "$20.00 to coverage the
expensive of postage and handling".

5.  Payware.  This is a unique concept of Groff Software.  Under
Payware the user does not pay the software author.  Instead the
software author pays the user.  

We have talked to a number of software users and they were
unanimous in their praise of the Payware idea.  

The programs BRAINO1-4 are hereby offered as Payware but there is
a catch.  See the text file PRIZES.TXT.
